Shopping in Vienna

Vienna's most captivating shopping streets: the Mariahilfer Strasse between the Old City and the Vienna-West railway station, and the Kärtnerstrasse.

The Mariahilfer Strasse extends from the Getreidemarkt in Vienna's 6th district (Mariahilf) and the Museumsplatz in the 7th district ("Neubau") near the Vienna Ringstrasse. The first short segment of the street climbs relatively steeply, while it then continues all the way out to the Mariahilfer Gürtel.

The Kärntner Strasse begins at the Karlsplatz and Friedrichstrasse, then makes its way past the Vienna State Opera and right into the centre of Vienna to St. Stephen's Cathedral. From here, the pedestrian precinct continues westwards along the Graben.  Hundreds of shops entice you with exquisite fashions, jewelry and accessories. In the Old City which flanks the Kärntner Strasse, the Graben and Kohlmarkt, we discover countless fine retailers, jewelers and perfumeries. And on Saturdays, the Flohmarkt becomes a paradise for curiosity-collectors and souvenir-hunters.
