Karlskirche
10-minute walk from the Hotel Papageno.
Karlskirche church stands on the southern side of the Karlsplatz in Vienna, on the edge of the city centre and 200 m outside the Ringstrasse. It is one of the most important Baroque churches north of the Alps and boasts a spectacular special feature: a dome in the form of an extended ellipsoid.
Since Karlsplatz square was once again united into a single ensemble at the end of the 1980's, the Karlskirche cuts both an imposing figure with its dome and two flanking pillars covered with ornate reliefs, but also as an architectural counterbalance to the buildings of the Musikverein and Technical University.
