Vienna Künstlerhaus
8-minute walk from the Hotel Papageno.
The Vienna Künstlerhaus is an exhibition building on the Ringstrasse. It is located on the Karlsplatz, adjacent to the building of the Vienna Musikverein.
The Künstlerhaus was founded between 1865–1868 by the Austrian Artists' Society, serving ever since as an exhibition venue for painting, sculpture, architecture and applied arts. In 1897, a number of modern artists split off from the Künstlerhaus and founded the "Wiener Secession".
Since 1947, the Künstlerhaus has also operated a cinema, now serving as one of the venues for the annual Viennale Film Festival.
